Built in 1931, the Pakachoag Golf Course lies on the historic site known as Effie Ward's property, where the first liquid rocket was launched in 1926. Today, that launch site remains, on the nine-hole course's final hole, surrounded by rolling green hills. The only golf course that can boast a liquid rocket flight obelisk as one of its hazards, Pakachoag occupies 54 acres, 40 miles east of downtown Boston, near Greenwood Park.
